Inclement Weather Information
Be Prepared!
Unplanned school closings are usually related to winter weather but can possibly occur for other reasons, such as power failures or flooding. Please take time in advance to determine your individual plan for your children when school is closed. The following information outlines how Victory Christian Academy makes decisions and communicates regarding school closings.
Alert/Communication Methods
The following types of communication are used to alert parents and staff of school closings, late start/snow schedule days, and early dismissals.
Local Media: KTVI TV (fox2now.com/Channel 2); KMOV TV (kmov.com/Channel 4); KSDK TV (ksdk.com/Channel 5)
Jupiter Ed (text and email). To receive a text, please opt in to “emergency alerts” and “messaging” in your Jupiter account. You may do this using the “settings” button in this email.
Before & After School Care
There will be no extended care when schools are closed due to inclement weather or Early Dismissal days.
School Closings
Every attempt will be made to make decisions before 5:30 a.m.
The decision will be communicated to staff and parents via Jupiter Ed (email and text) and local media. There is no practical way to change text delivery times to suit the preferences of individuals.
It is important to have accurate contact information for all families. Please make sure you have chosen the number you would like to have texted in the case of school closings as your preferred number.
Our primary concern is keeping students safe, and the severity of winter storms can be very unpredictable. As a result, decisions must be made with all students in mind. While your driveway, street, or neighborhood may be fine, other roads that our staff, families, and student drivers travel may be hazardous.
If school is not closed and you feel that driving conditions in your area are unsafe, please stay home and inform the school that you are unable to attend because of road conditions.
